Almost a grown up...

So I am in the process of narrowing down my choices of where I will be doing my student teaching and I need some advice from all my momma friends out there. I really want to know from all of you what you expect from a teacher. I know that all of your children are way younger than the age I will be teaching but someday they will be in middle school. I am way interested in my passion of teaching from the perspective from a parent so will "ya'll" enlighten me??

What EXACTLY do you want to know?

Here are a few thoughts. I have already found this with preschool, but I want my child's teacher to love teaching. I feel like that is one of the only ways a teacher will be successful, and instill a love of learning in their students. Kids pick up on more than we know, and a bad attitude about their job can affect a students behavior and participation.

Remember to tell me good things, and positive things my child is doing rather than just the negative. I need to know my child is good at something.

I want my kids to have a teacher that is friendly and approachable, not only for your students, but also for parents. Ellie had a teacher that was a great teacher, but very 'rough around the edges' and she came off very rude and unapproachable. I eventually switched classes because it wasn't working out.

It's my hope that teachers will be prepared and creative with lesson plans, and variety. I loved those teachers that did new things, and changed it up a bit.

I don't know if that is even what you were looking for, so sorry if I didn't answer the question. You will be a great teacher, and I love that you are so passionate about it.

God bless you! Teachers are the most underappreciated people in the world! I am so excited that you are teaching and I am sorry that I have no offspring of my own (he-he) but I know that you will do well. The concept of Body Worlds freaks me out; Steven is so excited to go. He has talked about it for two months. I pass out when I get a papercut and think about the insides of the cut. Luckily there are some people that are going with him so I'm off the hook. I'll let him know you enjoyed it. Good luck with your student teaching!
